Kenya Airports Authority (KAA)committed to operationalize the Ikanga airstrip in Voi subcounty

The County Government of TaitataTaveta is expected to get a major economic boost,after the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA)committed to operationalize the Ikanga airstrip in Voi subcounty.

Speaking after assessing the airstrip to acertain it’s suitability in terms of security and structural components,Kenya Airports Authority’s security manager Ken Ngaina,said the authority projects to starts it’s operations by 8th Dec.2023.

“This airstrip is key in the region since an air craft with a capacity of 82 passengers can land here.The authority is working closely with the county government to meet the deadline.”

KAAs engineer Steven njiru, eng.Abwok and Engineer Lazarus Mwaisakenyi from the County Government identified key areas of improvement including rehabilitating passenger waiting bay, rest rooms,and fencing the entire airstrip.

Edward lenjo,Programmes officer from trade department,commended the swift move by KAA, saying the facility is key in boosting the Tourisim sector and general business.

Also present was ,AG Transport Manager Innocent Mwanyanya.
