DCI Asks CS Justin Muturi to Record Statement After Concerns Over Son’s Abduction

Estimated read time 1 min read

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, January 12, responded to the allegations made by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Justin Muturi over increased abductions.

The CS had complained that the cases had skyrocketed and that his son was not spared when he was picked up in June at the height of anti-government protests calling for open discussion over the deterioration of youth security in Kenya.

In a letter dated January 12 signed by DCI’s Director of Liaison and Corporate Communications John K. Marete, the police stated that most of the abduction cases have been investigated and are awaiting to be presented to court.

In the case of Muturi’s son who was abducted during the anti-government protest that broke across the country in June 2024, the directorate said the case was before the DCI.
