Former CS Justin Muturi accuses President Ruto of corruption and unfitness to lead Kenya

Former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has labelled President William Ruto as unfit to be Kenya’s leader, accusing him of being marred by corruption and a dangerous character.

Speaking on Friday morning during an interview with NTV, Muturi disclosed that Ruto was behind the controversial Adani deal, alleging that the President’s involvement in the scandal is a clear example of his corrupt practices.

Muturi, who served as the Public Service Cabinet Secretary, was fired last week on accusations of absconding duty, poor performance and absenteeism from Cabinet meetings.

He, however, refuted the reasons given for his dismissal, asserting that his removal was linked to his vocal stance on extrajudicial killings and abductions, issues that he claims have beleaguered Ruto’s administration.

Muturi has now described Ruto as a man with two contrasting personalities: one which he presents to the public and another which he reveals behind closed doors.

According to Muturi, this duality makes Ruto a “dangerous character.”

“I think William Ruto is actually unfit for the position of President of the Republic of Kenya. I have come to, sadly, that conclusion,” Muturi said, adding that his assessment was not driven by bitterness but rather by his observations of Ruto’s behaviour in office.

The former CS further expressed disbelief over Ruto’s public stance against corruption, questioning the sincerity of his claims.

“When I hear William Ruto speaking about corruption, I start wondering, who is this person talking about corruption? Is it because he is corrupt himself?” Muturi wondered, going on to describe Ruto as “irreparably corrupt”.

He cited multiple examples of alleged corruption but chose not to detail specific incidents, but he pointed out the controversial Adani deal. Muturi claimed to have insider knowledge regarding the deal and further alleged that Ruto was directly involved in it.

“I know Ruto is clearly behind it. His advisor, Adam Mum, invited me to attend COP 28 in Dubai in 2023, where I received significant information related to the Adani deal,” he said, detailing how the deal had emerged through discussions with Ruto’s aides.
