Sarah Moraa Wins Gold at World U-20 Championships in Lima

In the 3000m steeplechase, Kenya’s Marion Chepngetich secured a silver medal with a time of 8:52.37.

Kenya’s Sarah Moraa has been crowned the new U-20 World Champion after a stunning performance at the World U-20 Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru, on Friday night. 

Moraa dominated the 800m race, clocking an impressive 2:00.36 to secure gold medal for Kenya. 

Australia’s Claudia Hollingsworth took the silver with a time of 2:00.87, while the United States’ Sophia Gorriaran claimed bronze, finishing in 2:01.04.

Sarah Moraa is continuing a proud family legacy, following in the footsteps of her elder cousin, Mary Moraa, who won bronze at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With this victory, Sarah is now firmly positioned as a rising star.

Silver for Chepngetich

In the 3000m steeplechase, Kenya’s Marion Chepngetich secured a silver medal with a time of 8:52.37. The race was won by Ethiopia’s Alishign Baweke, who crossed the finish line in 8:50.32. Another Ethiopian, Marta Alemayo, completed the podium by taking bronze with a time of 8:53.64.
