Various political leaders have mourn the death of former Kwale mp Hon. zainab Chidzuga.

The news of her death was announced on Thursday morning through her daughter Former TV anchor Mwanaisha Chidzuga

Before joining politics, Zainab was the Coast Province treasurer for Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) for more than two decades.

At one point, she also served as the chairperson, MYWO Kwale District.

She was a widow and in seeking elective office, had to overcome many negative cultural beliefs regarding women in leadership.

Chidzuga was an ardent supporter of Jubilee government. She was former ally of ODM party leader Raila Odinga who lost re-election to Zuleikha Juma in 2017 polls.

She was among Coast leaders who campaigned for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in 2017 repeat.
